Falling through the cracks - evidence from countries without systematic IR

In contrast to the US, a wide adoption of IR (task) is not a standard elsewhere. Different types of structures - due to terminology, language & academic culture - make a direct comparison to the States rather difficult. However, many of the 1,000+ tasks listed in AIRs national survey of IR offices are performed at many institutions in many countries. ''New impulses'' may however be considered a threat. This study hence focuses on benefits arising from applying IR techniques and tasks that commonly fall through the cracks of typical silo-style structures. With support of the Network of International Institutional Researchers (NIIR), the study provides interested IR folks with hints regarding ease and impact of selective implementation of IR
