The teaching, assessment and learning methodologies research in higher education has been devalued over the years, placing the emphasis of teaching work on scientific knowledge, to the detriment of the teaching and pedagogical dimensions. In this article we intend to analyse the importance of these methodologies in the construction and development of teachers’ skills and their contribution to the quality of training in Higher Education Institutions.
The empirical component was supported on a case study, based on the investigation of the won practice, in a group of preservice teacher education in the disciplines of the Teaching Economics and Accounting Master''s Degree in Portugal.
The results point to the relevance that the active teaching, assessment and learning methodologies, supported by the Active Training Model, can play in the quality of the educational process. In that empowered: (i) the integration of digital technologies through their effective experimentation; and (ii) the construction and development of students'' skills, namely digital, learning to learn, critical thinking and professional skills, as well as (iii) contributed to an increase in their motivation and the success of learning.
