Employer surveys frequently list the importance of core skills and attributes. Work experience and inter-/intra-personal skills are cited as crucial determining factors in decision-making about who to call for interview and who to employ. This workshop introduces EAIR participants to research with high achieving students at Birmingham City University (BCU) to determine the extent to which the use of psychometric testing could help them to adapt and adjust their behaviours in building professional relationships and gaining greater success in achieving personal goals. Workshop participants will have the chance to complete the same tests as the students and to discuss and debate how the profiles produced could be helpful to under- and post-graduate cohorts. This experience played a powerful role in helping the students at BCU to more accurately gauge and appreciate their real capabilities and potential.
