Torn between multiple responsibilities– A closer look at third mission activities at the Austrian applied higher education sector

This contribution looks at third mission activities as an integral part of universities of applied sciences (UAS) and sheds light on the perceived role of these Austrian institutions of higher learning as to their responsibility in terms of prosperity, innovation and knowledge transfer in their local areas. In addition, it is sought to identify the institutional key players and departments that promote third mission activities amongst Austrian UAS and whether there exist any specific transfer centers that deal exclusively with services to the community and regional engagement.
